Dr. Peter Biribwa Receives the 2019 Mission: Restore Volunteer Surgeon Appreciation Award

Dr. Peter Biribwa Kansiime M.D, MMed.PRS, a volunteer surgeon with Mission: Restore, received the
prestigious Annual Appreciation award in Nairobi, Kenya from the founder of Mission: Restore, Dr.
Kaveh Alizadeh in March 2019. Dr. Biribwa is a practicing Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon at Coast
General Hospital in Mombasa, Kenya. He was a resident at the Kenyatta National Hospital, graduating
with a Master’s degree in Plastics, Aesthetics & Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Nairobi. He received further training in Microsurgery at Sefako Makagatho University of health sciences (formerly MEDUNSA) in South Africa.

Dr. Peter has been a volunteer surgeon with Mission: Restore since 2016. He has successfully trained
and facilitated several medical camps and outreaches in Mwanza, Tanzania where he performed post
burn reconstructive surgeries, limb salvage and head and neck surgeries. Dr. Peter is currently working as a consultant Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon at the Coast General Hospital where he is involved in clinical practice and training general surgery residents. Dr. Biribwa exemplifies the Mission: Restore vision of training surgeon leaders who will empower the future generation of African doctors to lead health care for Africans by Africans.
