HAITI, FALL 2013

November, 2013, Report from Dr. Kaveh Alizadeh, Chairman and Founder of Mission: Restore, Inc.:  “We spent the whole day with the surgeons in the operating room and on rounded on over 50 patients in the hospital wards. We performed surgery on a young boy who was thrown from a motorcycle and lost all circulation and feeling to his left arm. He had had a previous untreated contracture of the opposite hand which meant that we had to make sure his remaining hand stays functional.”

“The majority of the surgical cases here are from trauma and injuries. 70% of all orthopedic cases performed at the hospital are from motorcycle injuries. There is a huge need for reconstructive surgical training in Haiti.”
