Why We Do It

Why We Do It

Mission: Restore has chosen to travel to places where most doctors would not go, to conduct the type of surgeries that most doctors prefer not to perform. The Foundation is comprised of doctors who volunteer their time and expertise at home and abroad. The Foundation employs only one full-time administrator; all donated funds go towards equipment, supplies and the training of doctors abroad. The overarching goal is to create a sustainable infrastructure where long-term relationships are forged and permanent change is made.

Mission: Restore organizes and funds volunteer medical missions to deliver expert plastic and reconstructive surgery to patients in need suffering from conditions such as burns, congenital deformities and facial and body trauma. Mission: Restore plans to conduct four missions annually to countries including India, Nepal, Iran, Afghanistan and Ecuador. Each mission will consist of a team of 4 doctors as well as a team of nurses and support staff who will travel for 2 weeks to each site.

There are five goals to accomplish via each mission:
  • Infrastructure development
  • Education of local doctors and nurses
  • Research on state of the care for disfigured victims
  • Distribution and extension of learned knowledge via publications and
    international symposia
  • Creation of a business development model to enable long-term sustainable
    clinical care
